great goal..

The journey of a girl struggling to follow God's principles in a bottom-line world.

Oops, little casualty in the kitchen - never buy your chicken mc nuggets at Aldi's. No, just kidding. This is simply a case of oil from the pan having dripped into the flame and the extractor must have accentuated the fire. I tried to clean and scrub as much as I could but it is not really going away. All the sudden, my dear little nuggets, the felt in the heat extractor and the wall tiles with all the wall decorations were up in flames. Could have been much worse though. In retrospect, the actions I took were not too bad: chill and don't freak out, turn off the hob, try to extinguish the fire. Still gave me the shakes afterwards though!
If you are ever in Fulda, my dear blogger friend, you must stop by Café Flamme. Just came across Flamme's website. Pretty ordinary, but they place sure brings back nice memories. Ahh, memories of holidays once had. :) Definitely a highlight of my trip - especially in the light of excellent company. The king-and-his-family-sized-cakes are out of this world and the array of beverages gorgeous. Lighting and music were spot on, and the paintings - well I loved them so much I took a the artist's card away with me and gave him a call. Way out of my budget. But just stunning paintings.
Before being able to continue with the pending at the office, we stopped by a totally wild florist place. Actually awesome and worth stopping by! Can't show you pix of their arrangements, wouldn't be very nice for their business. In fact, the guys aren't all that business-minded, (an understatement - they were majorly creative, borderline spaced-out). They threw some arrangements together and kept changing their minds. I knew exactly what I wanted for the tables, but the ideas just kept flourishing. So I told her: "Lots of ideas, eh?" and she excitedly replied: "you just wait another hour and we will have already have thrown out that idea!". (no thanks!) So we chose what we wanted, took a picture for our records in case she may forget what it looked like the next hour and of course worked in a better and more competitive price than originally stated. Ahh, the art of negotiation.. this one was an easy one.
Our summer company party is bound to be unique. There have been lots of hours invested into the family event. I had to just chuckle at the randomness of my hours spent at work, especially ever since I got back from holidays on Sunday. I mean, here I am, sitting and interviewing a magician for the event. Poor Bino came to reception and said "I am the magician.." and before he could say he was in to see me, the receptionist got defensive and asked him if he was "making fun of her or what?" Back in our conference room, the guy starts to flip some coins and asks me to play along, whilst tapping on my shoulder annoyingly to rob my attention from the coins. He also specialises in balloon art - so he thought I might like to keep the balloons in the shape of a flower with a bear hanging off of it and put it all in my office.
This is a pretty patriotic place... at least for the day! In the supermarket, I saw country flag branded candles, cutting boards, plates, chocolate, fondue dishes, balloons, firecrackers etc. 1st of August marks the national Swiss holiday and all the Genevans await the 4th for their own festivities! For me, it means the day off and hopefully a chance to undestand what is being celebrated. *shame* I was only born here :*) PS: Flag clashes badly with my blog wallpaper, I know. But either I change my blog or the flag - and I can't really do either.
PPS: Whilst I was looking for a nice flag to post here, I came accross an interesting blog featuring some interesting "gotta have gadgets". I loved the wall fish bowl! Great going, Aaron!
