Though supporting a child at the Michael W Smith concert would have earned me a free CD, I preferred to sit down and think about it first. I don't like the "heart string campaigns" and much prefer thinking the numbers through for a long-lasting committment.

I figured, if I could pay 30CHF (20 bucks) for parking at a concert, I too could support a child at 42 CHF/month. And hey, if you wait until you are rich to give, you will never be rich enough. If you reason the way I did, you would have no doubt made the same decision.

So, I too logged onto the Swiss Compassion site and clicked the "sponsor a child" button. Her name is Yusmerly, is a beautiful Columbian eight year old. The age of the kids I taught at sunday school! Yusmerly and Shema are both teaching me invaluable lessons in regards to the power of generosity, the blessing of giving and the delight in financial freedom.
