nice "new job" now?

Or, "how to loose your job over an email". :) I dont know what the chances are, that your boss asks to glance at your "sent items". It surely has never happened to me in my presence before. And honestly, what are the chances that you get an email entitled "new job?" from an old colleague in your work imbox. And, come on, how could you ever forget to erase the sent item in response to such a mail sticking out like a sore thumb in your outbox?

Good thing he was in a good mood. Whilst I had taken a second to respond to the kind job offered in internal communications at another company in GE, responding that "Thanks for the very interesting ad, but I cannot not quite yet leave my current position for x,y and z reasons", I had obviously moved onto project number 56 or maybe 83? In anycase, he came in, giggled at a mail I sent him (I figured I must have clicked sent on the "new job" mail to him, so I got bright red) and in the meantime, he told me "well, go to your sent items and check it out".

"Oh, you have an email from Bart?" he giggled (he must have had a nice lunch - his spirits were high). He either overread the subject line in looking for the email he figured was a kick or was to involved in provoking me that I would email Bart, that he left it at that.

I immediately erased the email "re: new job?", wondering what the odds really were that something like this would happen. Close one, Euph.
